Every transfer is different. We always move your money as quickly as we can, but the speed depends on a few things. You can always see the most accurate estimate in your transfer tracker.
How do you check your transfer status?
The best place to see the latest status of your transfer is in your Wise account. On the website or app:
Go to Transfers
Select your transfer from the list
The transfer tracker will show you a step-by-step view of where your money is.
Why is your transfer taking longer than expected?
Here's some of the reasons your transfer might be taking a little longer than expected.
The money hasn't reached Wise yet
The time it takes for money to reach us depends on how you pay. We'll show you how long each payment method takes when you set up your transfer. For example, card payments are typically instant, while a manual bank transfer can take longer, especially if you’re paying by Swift.
Once we receive your money, we'll send you an email. You can check the transfer tracker for updates in the meantime. If the payment has been sent from your bank but hasn't reached us within 2 working days, you can send us a proof of payment.
The transfer is being processed
Sometimes we need a little more time to convert the money. A transfer can take up to 2 working days to be converted.
Your transfer may also be delayed if we need to do extra security checks. These checks are a requirement for us as a regulated financial institution. We'll email you if we need any more information from you. Check how long additional checks on your transfer will take.
Keep in mind that if you created multiple transfers, but only paid for one of them, that money will be linked to the oldest transfer you created. Learn more on Multiple transfers set up.
Public holidays and weekends
We can only process and send money during normal banking hours. This means that if you send money on a weekend or a public holiday in the destination country, it may take a little longer.
Your money has returned to us
In some cases, your payment might come back to us. This isn’t a final status. We'll send you an email with a self-service link to a page where you can tell us what you want to do with your money.
Help for recipients
If you're a recipient expecting money and haven't received it yet, the first thing to do is ask the sender for the transfer receipt. This will contain all the necessary details to locate the payment.
If the transfer receipt shows the money has been sent, you may need to contact your bank directly to ask them about the delay.
