Note that before you can close your account, you must:
Empty all money from your account. To withdraw money:
Go to Home and select a currency that has money in it
Select Send
Make sure you send the full amount and choose a bank account outside of Wise
Repeat for all currencies you have money in
Wait for any pending transfers or card payments to complete or cancel them if possible
Change your card details on any websites as you won’t be able to use them
Download any statements or transfer receipts you might need for your records
The option to close it won't work if you still have money in your account or any pending transfers and/or card payments.
How do I close my account on the web or app?
Click on your initials/photo in the top corner
Go to Settings
Under Actions and Agreements, select Close your account
Follow the on-screen instructions
What if I can't close my account?
If you've followed the steps and still can't close your account, check these common issues.
| Scenario | What to do |

| I think I have a duplicate account | Sometimes, you might have accidentally created a second account with a different email. We don't allow duplicate accounts, so you'll need to close one. If you're not sure, get in touch. |
| I’m seeing an error on the app | Try closing your account on the website instead. If the error persists, contact us. |
| I have a tiny amount left in my account | You can't withdraw very small amounts (like a few cents) yourself. If this is blocking you from closing your account, call us. We can help clear it. |

What happens after I close my account?
Your account details will be deactivated. You won't be able to receive money
Your Wise card will stop working
Any Direct Debits you have set up will be cancelled
What happens to my data?
As a regulated financial institution, we’re required to store some of your personal data, so we can’t remove all of your info from the system. We’ll delete information that’s no longer needed. All data is protected by the highest levels of security.

What if I closed my account by mistake?
If you didn't mean to close your account, don't worry — you can reactivate it.
Go to the login page, enter the email address and password that was associated with your account and follow the on-screen instructions. Note that this doesn't apply if your account was closed by Wise.
