Getting verified in Brazil

To send money from Brazilian Real (BRL), we need to verify your information. This is to comply with local regulations from the Brazilian Central Bank and keep your account safe.

This verification is only required for customers who are Brazilian tax residents. If you aren't a tax resident in Brazil, you won't be able to send money from BRL.

It usually takes 1-4 working days for us to review your documents after you upload them.

What are the verification steps?

We verify you in a few different stages.

  1. Identity and Address: When you set up your first transfer from BRL.

  2. Proof of income: Once per fiscal year, we'll ask you to confirm your income and assets.

  3. Source of funds: We may ask for documents if you send amounts over your yearly limit.

Verifying your identity

When you set up your first transfer from BRL, we'll ask for a high-quality photo or scan of one of the following documents:

  1. Your passport

  2. Your Brazilian identity card (RG) — it must have been issued in the last 15 years

  3. Your Brazilian driver's license (CNH) — we can't accept the electronic version

  4. Your Carteira de Registro Nacional Migratório (CRNM), also known as RNE

Note that we're not able to accept provisional refugee IDs (Documento Provisório de Registro Nacional Migratório).

If your ID document has a plastic cover, please remove it before taking the photo — it'll helps us see your information better.

Verifying your address

You'll need a Brazilian address to send from BRL. We'll ask for a high-quality photo or scan of a document. It needs to show:

  • Your full name

  • Your full Brazilian address

  • The date of issue

  • The name or logo of the issuer

  • Purpose of the document — we can’t accept an image of the envelope

Acceptable documents include:

  • Utility bills (like electricity, water, or gas) issued within the last 3 months

  • A mobile phone bill (must be from a Brazilian provider) issued within the last 3 months

  • A Boleto (both the invoice and receipt parts) issued within the last 3 months

  • Urban Building and Property Tax (IPTU) issued within the last 12 months

  • A condominium bill issued within the last 3 months — we need to see a breakdown of what you're paying for

Proof of income

Due to regulations, we must collect information about your income and assets once per Brazilian fiscal year (which runs from April 1st to March 31st).

We’ll need to see all of your Brazilian tax return along with its filing receipt. You can download these from the Receita Federal website.

Keep in mind that your income should support the amount of BRL you plan to send for the year.

Common questions

QuestionAnswer
Why do I need to add my CPF?Your CPF (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas) is your Brazilian taxpayer ID number. We're required by local regulations to report all BRL transfers using a CPF.
How do I prove my income if I live abroad? We can only accept proof of income earned during the current tax year in Brazil. You can download your tax return with the filing receipt directly from Brazil’s Internal Revenue Office website. To download the full declaration, you might need to use the IRPF app.
What if my family supports me and I don't receive income in Brazil? You can upload your family member, or partners, tax declaration and its filing receipt as long as you’re listed as a dependent. They need to have enough income to show they can support you and any other dependents over 18. Although you’re a dependent of someone, when you pay for your transfers the money must come from a bank account in your name.
