Importing Bills to Wise
This is only available for business in the UK at the moment. You can see your unpaid bills in real time and pay them from Bills.
We won't import any bills you mark as paid in Xero. It means if you paid a bill through another provider and haven’t marked it as paid in Xero, it's still going to be visible in your Bills page on Wise.
To see how this feature works in detail, check How do I import and pay bills from Xero with Wise?
Marking Bills as Paid in Xero
When you pay a bill through your Bills page on Wise, we’ll automatically mark it as paid for you in Xero. This requires a Xero plan that supports multi-currency. How to turn on multicurrency in Xero.
Bank Feeds
Bank feeds let you sync your Wise activity directly with Xero. To see your Wise transactions (bank statement lines) in Xero, you need to connect each Wise currency you want to sync.
If you didn't connect the currencies during the initial setup, you can add them at any time by following these steps:
Open your connection settings and go to Connected accounts
Find the Wise currency (for example: USD, GBP, EUR) you’d like to connect and click Select
Choose an existing Xero bank account to connect with, or create a new one.
If you create a new account, Xero will automatically add it for that Wise currency within your Xero organisation. Learn more about adding a bank account or credit card account to Xero
You can only connect one Wise currency with one Xero account within a Xero organisation. If you try to sync two Wise currency with Xero accounts with identical names (for example both balances named "Wise Bank" or “USD”), you'll encounter an error as Xero requires each account to have a unique name within the organisation.
If you previously used a name for an account in a Xero organisation and then archived or deleted it, you can't reuse that name.
We automatically sync accounts every 4 hours, but you can manually sync anytime — just go to Sync options and status from your Xero Connection settings and click on Sync now.
Transactions with Attachments
This feature automatically sends invoices and bills attached to your Wise transactions to Xero. These will be stored as Draft Bills or Draft Invoices in Xero, awaiting your review and publication.
Once you turn this feature on, any transaction attachments from connected currencies and jars will be synced to Xero where it will create draft bills and invoices. You just need to review and publish them.
You must have ‘Bank feeds’ turned on to use this feature.
Card Transactions with Receipts
This feature automatically sends attachments from your Wise card transactions to the Expense Account in Xero, and adds those to 'Transactions with Attachments'. Card expenses are synced as 'Spend Money' transactions, with all the attachments included as files.
This functionality needs the "Transactions with attachments" feature to be enabled.
Advanced Settings
Advanced settings aren't available for new customers. If you don’t see this feature under the connection settings, it means we can’t provide it.
These settings provide additional customisation options, allowing you to:
Sync Bill and Invoice Payments: Automatically marks bills and invoices as paid in Xero when paid through Wise. We'll match bills and invoices by the recipient name, amount, and reference.
Record Other Transactions as Expenses: Record Wise payments without a bill or invoice as an Expense in Xero.
Are there any fees associated with the integration?
The integration features have no extra cost as part of your Wise Business account. Xero will charge a 0.1% fee for international transfers and a 0.2% fee for domestic transfers. These fees are applied by Xero, not Wise — for any questions about Xero's fees, please contact their support team.
