Your HKD account details are a set of details (account number, branch code, etc.) that can be used to:
Receive payments domestically in HKD, USD, CNY and EUR from Hong Kong bank accounts via local payment systems (FPS and CHATS)
Receive international payments via SWIFT in HKD, USD, CNY and EUR.
Share these account details with friends, family, clients or partners, or request payments by using payment links and QuickPay QR codes on Wise.
Funds received to your account details will be credited into your respective currency. For example, HKD payments will go into HKD, USD payments will be credited to USD.
Opening new account details
You can have HKD account details if:
You're a Wise Business customer based outside of Hong Kong
You're a Wise personal customer based outside of Hong Kong.
You’ll first need to add HKD as a currency to your Wise account. Once done, tap on Get your account details and follow the steps outlined there. We’ll need to verify you before we can provide details to you.
If you’ve have already passed Wise’s verification, the Hong Kong local HKD account details should be issued instantly. Otherwise, verification is normally completed within an hour. In some rare cases, we may need to do some extra checks on your account — this could take between 2 to 30 working days. Wise may also reach out to you for further information via email.
Checking your account details
You can see your account details once they are issued, using the Wise app or web portal:
Go to your main account and choose HKD
Select the account details button just under the HKD currency
You can view and copy your account details to share with others
You can also request a payment from your sender or download an account details document.

Payments from Hong Kong
If your sender’s bank account is in Hong Kong, share the following account details for receiving payments via FPS and CHATS:
Full name
Account number
Bank name and code
Branch code
Your sender won’t need Swift/BIC — that’s only used for international payments sent from outside of Hong Kong (see section below).
Whether you’re trying to receive HKD, USD, CNY or EUR from Hong Kong, you can use the same set of account details as it is a multi-currency account.
FPS payments are free to receive, but there’s a small fee (described above) to receive payments via CHATS into your Wise account. For details regarding receiving fees, speed and limits, please refer to the table above.
Charges by the sender bank
Banks in Hong Kong may charge the sender for CHATS or FPS transfers. If it happens, the payment made by your sender won’t be received in full by Wise — depending on the bank they used for processing the transfer.
If the amount you received in your Wise account doesn’t match the amount sent by the sender (taking into account any Wise fees when applicable), please ask your sender to check with their bank for any fees deducted.
Payments from outside of Hong Kong
If you’re expecting money from an overseas account outside of Hong Kong, we recommend using the account details associated with that currency, so that you can save on transfer cost and get the payment instantly rather than via Swift.
For example, if you’d like to receive EUR from a bank account in Germany, not a local Hong Kong bank account, use your EUR account details (IBAN) — and if you’re expecting payments in AUD, you can use your AUD account details for that.
If necessary, you can use your HKD account details to receive Swift payments for the following currencies: HKD, USD, CNY and EUR. Senders can send Swift payments to your account from most places in the world.
If your sender’s bank account is outside of Hong Kong, share the following account details with them, to receive Swift payments:
Full name
Account number
Bank name and code
Swift/BIC code
Bank address
You can see this information when viewing your account details. The payer’s bank may require a bank address when making the payment to you so do share this information with them for Swift payments.
There’s a small fee (described above) to receive Swift payments into your Wise account. Please note that correspondent banks might apply their own fees.
What if my sender used the wrong account details?
If the money was sent to the wrong account details, we may have to reject it back to the sender — and in some cases, it won’t even reach us.
To get the money back to the sender it usually takes:
Instant for FPS payments
1 working day for CHATS payments
5-10 working days for international Swift payments
If the money doesn’t get back to them in the estimated timeframe, they should get in touch with their own bank to set up a trace on the money. We can’t track money sent to the wrong details.
